evaluation on video how to.

our how to video was on how to do a 360 kick flip on a skateboard at night. before filming the video we had to do a lot of planning on where and how to film the different aspects of the skateboard trick. also planning the location wisely. when the day came to film our how to video the weather was extremely bad and plans had to change. i think that the video was an over all success because my self and rory each gave good imput towards the video and how it was edited. we both want to use a slowmotion camera but we were unable to get one and the slowmotion on the HDV cameras were bad quality. matt told us about a plugin for after effect called twixtor that you can slow down footage at a high standard and smooth quality. this is exactly what we wanted. as we both have knowlege of filming and editing we wanted to excel in this project. we enjoyed using twixtor and will use it again shortly. one problem we had was the weather on the day we filmed. we were going to film it in a small village called addingham in an old school yard with white wall the the twixtor would work alot better becuse it finds it hard to put in frames when the is a detailed background. which links with the fact that we wanted to slow the trick down slower but couldn't because of the background. so we had to slow it down to 40% instead od somthing like 5%. i think for our first try on twixtor we managed to acheive a really high standard effect. i think if it had been a little slower it would have been easyer as a viewer to learn how to perform the trick. for the sound fx we used a programe call soundtrack. this was easy to used and the sounds work well with the twixtored footage kind of like the matrix. when out filming we set both camera to the same white balance so it didn't look funny when edited. on final cut we also played around with the 3 way colour corrector, this gave the footage more contrast and a bluer tint. in this project we managed our time well and didn't have to rush thingsleft ourselfs a week to edit etc. this is very important i feel because video production has to be planned to the smallest detail.
